Julie Dolan

A commanding central midfielder, Julie Dolan played 34 matches for Australia in a 10-year career. Dolan started playing soccer at the age of 14 and contested the Asian Cup two years later in 1975. Between 1978 and 1988 Dolan played in 18 full internationals.

Johnny Warren, MBE

John Warren was born in Sydney in 1943 and began his career at the age of five in Botany, making his senior debut at 16 with Canterbury-Marrickville. In 1963 he joined St George and spent most of his career with the club until his retirement in 1974.

A native of Dundee, Scotland, Jim Rooney was born in 1945 and arrived in Australia in 1968. Rooney joined Melbourne’s Essendon Lions before moving to to Sydney Prague, Apia Leichhardt, Marconi Fairfield, Heidelberg United as player/coach, and Croydon (Victoria).

Alf Quill

Alf Quill was born in the Sydney suburb of Ultimo in 1910. He started his career with Pyrmont in 1927 at the age of 17 with four games and four goals. A prolific scorer, Quill’s 868 goals in senior games from 1927 to 1949 still stands as an Australian record.

James "Judy" Masters

James (Judy) Masters was born in Balgownie, Southern NSW in 1898. Part of a football family, Masters captained his school team at the age of 12. He joined Balgownie in 1901 and was selected for the senior team at the age of 15 in 1904.

Reg Date

Newcastle native Reg Date is widely regarded as one of Australia’s great goal scorers. He started his career with Plattsburgh Primary School in northern NSW in 1930. His junior career included 305 goals with the Plattsburgh club Under-16 and Under-18 teams.

Bob Bignell

Australia’s first Olympic Games captain in 1956, Bob Bignell had a distinguished career at local, state and international level. Born in Wollongong in 1922, Bignell first played junior soccer at age 13 with Corrimal Rangers and represented Illawarra that year.
