Football Federation Australia wrapped up consultations with key stakeholders from Football Federation South Australia last night following a special ‘Town Hall meeting’ at the Office for Recreation & Sport in Adelaide.

The event was held as part of the Whole of Football Plan, which was announced by FFA CEO David Gallop in September during his ‘State of the Game’ address, which aims to improve all levels of the sport, from the grassroots to the elite levels, to eventually make Football the biggest and most popular game in Australia.

Topics and issues discussed during the meeting included:

  • How to grow the game of Football in Australia and the need to create a unity of purpose amongst clubs in order to ensure that all efforts are coordinated effectively.
  • The need to improve the delivery of coaching courses across Australia, particularly in terms of price and accessibility.
  • The need to provide clear roles and responsibilities across Football to safeguard against key stakeholders competing against each other and duplicating efforts.
  • Rewards and recognition at every level of the game were discussed. From recognising Football’s own heritage to the volunteers that make grassroots Football possible.

"The meeting last night was a great opportunity for the FFA to hear from a very knowledgeable group of stakeholders in Adelaide. They provided some interesting insights  on topics ranging from the growth of the game to the future of coach education in Australia" said Emma Highwood, FFA Head of Community and Women’s Football.

Michael Carter, CEO of Football Federation South Australia commented: “Football was well represented at last night's form with contributions made from coaches, delegates, referees and volunteers. A wide range of topics were covered and it was clear that South Australian stakeholders are committed to making a strong contribution to the future success of Football in the country.”

The Whole of Football Plan will continue to seek input form stakeholders for the remainder of the year with the final report to be completed by the conclusion of the AFC Asian Cup Australia 2015 in January next year, with release set for the first quarter of 2015.
