Westfield W-League Round 12 Review

Brisbane Roar roared back into Westfield W-League finals contention thanks to a crucial 3-1 win over fourth-placed Adelaide United on Sunday.

Both teams, along with Newcastle Jets, now have a share of the fourth and final play-off berth with two rounds remaining.

Newcastle Jets missed a big chance after slipping to a 1-0 home defeat against the vastly improved Melbourne Victory.

Newly crowned premiers Melbourne City continued on their merry way by collecting a 4-0 win over Western Sydney Wanderers with Kim Little scoring another double.

Their latest big win leaves City three goals shy of Perth Glory’s competition record tally of 39 goals, with one match remaining against Sydney FC in a fortnight.

Saturday’s only match saw Canberra United effectively assure themselves of a home semi-final thanks to goals in each half for a tough 2-0 win at Perth Glory.

Next weekend will be highlighted by the first ever Westfield W-League match at ANZ Stadium as Sydney FC host Newcastle Jets in front of the Fox Sports/ABC TV cameras on Saturday, with the pair both battling for a play-off spot.
