Westfield Matildas give Kasey her wish
The Westfield Matildas enter their fourth and final training camp at the Australian Institute of Sport for the upcoming FIFA Women’s World Cup in Germany from June 27 to July 17.
Making this camp a little more special is the presence of 15-year-old Kasey from Miriam Vale in Queensland who, through Make A Wish Australia, will have her dream of meeting and training with the Westfield Matildas come true.
A mad soccer fan, Kasey plays in her local football team in her small Queensland town and has dreamed of becoming a Westfield Matilda.
Kasey was met at the airport by Westfield Matilda-s Head Coach Tom Sermanni on Wednesday afternoon to start her full Westfield Matildas experience and is staying at the Australian Institute of Sport for the four day camp.
She will take part in the training camp with the team and has been accompanied on her adventure by her mum and dad for this once in a lifetime trip.
Kasey will meet the full Westfield Matildas squad tomorrow at their training session at 9am and join in for the start of the session and will be presented with a very special memento of her trip after training.
Kasey has myelodysplastic syndrome.
