The Westfield Matildas will leave tomorrow to compete in the 2011 FIFA Women-s World Cup dressed exclusively by Australian style icon Carla Zampatti - a first for the AFC Women-s Asian Cup winning team.

As an avid football follower and fan, Carla Zampatti is the perfect choice to dress the Westfield Matildas for this year-s FIFA Women-s World Cup and her stylish skirt, pant, camisole and jacket design in black and cream will set the team apart as they fly to Germany to compete in this month-s FIFA Women-s World Cup.

The agreement sees the Westfield Matildas adopting a more classic look for formal occasions and came about due to Carla Zampatti-s ongoing admiration of the team.

“I think they are stylish, young, powerful women and that fits with the Carla Zampatti image beautifully,” said Carla Zampatti.

“I love their attitude and the team aesthetic, which is something that is very important to me, and I am so proud to be involved with these remarkable young women.

“What they have achieved and continue to achieve is quite astonishing and I will be cheering them on during the World Cup - hopefully I-ll even manage to go to one of the games.”

All female players and staff will be dressed in the optional pant or skirt suit designed by Carla Zampatti for all formal functions including the Westfield Matildas farewell functions in Sydney tonight and farewell media function on June 14 (at FFA Offices from 10am) as well as all official functions at the 2011 FIFA Women-s World Cup from June 26 - July 17.

Football Federation Australia is delighted to have Carla Zampatti not only as a fan of football but now intrinsically linked with women-s football and the Westfield Matildas with the entire team thrilled to be associated with such a prestigious and iconic Australian designer.

“The Westfield Matildas represent the youthful, skilful and cosmopolitan face of Australian football,” said FFA CEO Ben Buckley.

“For Carla Zampatti to take the next step in aligning her brand with the Westfield Matildas has put her indelible stamp of approval to this team.

“It is a real coup to have Carla Zampatti fit out our World Cup squad and will certainly give the whole team an added injection of style and intent that will lift them throughout the tournament.”

The six male staff, including head coach Tom Sermanni, will be suited by Sydney menswear designer MJ Bale.

Nike will continue their fantastic support of all Australian national teams as the official on field apparel and sportswear outfitter of the Westfield Matildas.

The Westfield Matildas leave for Germany on June 14 to play in two practice matches against Mexico (June 20 - Gottingen) and England (June 23 - Wolfsburg) prior to their first match against Brazil on June 29 (June 30, 2.15am AEST), before playing Equatorial Guinea on July 3 (10pm AEST) and Norway on July 6 (July 7, 2am AEST).
