Mini Matches

Markus Babbel (Western Sydney Wanderers)

The German led the Wanderers to their best-ever start to a Hyundai A-League season, winning all three matches against Central Coast Mariners, Melbourne Victory and Sydney FC.

The 47-year-old's signings have starred in each, while the young players Babbel has nutured since taking the post are beginning to make their mark.

Erick Mombaerts (Melbourne City)

Outside of a freakish FFA Cup Final defeat to Adelaide United, life under Erick Mombaerts has begun in very impressive fashion for City.

Sunday's victory at Western United showed the players are not only buying in to the Frenchman's philosophy but willing to fight for him.

Mark Rudan (Western United)

To start a team from scratch is not easy, but Rudan has built Western United into a team who look more than capable of finishing in the top six.

There will be inevitable teething problems - as Sunday's defeat to City demonstrated - but a draw with reigning Premiers Perth and a first-up win against Wellington is a very credible start to the club's Hyundai A-League existence.
