Football Federation Australia would like to acknowledge the outstanding contribution of former National Team Manager John Barclay to football in Australia following news of his passing.
The likeable Scotsman took over the role in 1967, travelling with the Socceroos on their fabled tour of Vietnam during the height of the Vietnam War.
The 86-year-old was also the manager for Australia's maiden World Cup finals appearance in 1974, having celebrated his birthday on 13th November 1973 – the very day the Socceroos qualified in Hong Kong.
Barclay passed away on 25 August and is a Hall of Fame member of Football Federation Victoria and Football Federation Australia.
