Frank is a member of an elite club having represented Australia at the 1956 Olympic Games in his hometown of Melbourne, in what was the nation's debut appearance in an Olympic football tournament. He also has the distinction of scoring the second goal in the 2-0 defeat of Japan in Australia's opening match played at Olympic Park.

The Belfast-born Loughran played a total of eight full international matches scoring two goals, and representing Australia 38 times in all matches with 22 goals. He also added another 20 goals in 25 appearances for Victoria.

He moved to Australia at the age of 23 where he played for the Moreland club.

Frank was also an inaugural inductee into the Australian football Hall of Fame in 1999.

Frank Loughran was 77 when he passed way last Friday. The funeral will be held on Wednesday (11am) at Brimbank Anglican Church, Cnr of Ely Crt. and Cemetery Rd. Keilor.
