Vale Frank Hearn

Frank Hearn, an Australian representative and one of the stars of NSW State League football in the 1950s, has passed away in Sydney. He was 86.

Frank was a professional with Crystal Palace in his native England, before migrating to Australia in 1955. Only three players in Sydney football at the time had any professional experience in England, including the legendary Joe Marston at APIA Leichhardt.

Frank made an immediate impact at Gladesville-Ryde and was subject of a major transfer to Hakoah. He was selected to play for the Australian team that confronted the visiting Scottish champions Hearts in 1959, scoring a goal in a 7-1 defeat.

He later coached Pan Hellenic, Auburn, Prague and Hakoah. Frank will be remembered by friends and family at his funeral and wake next Tuesday.

Tuesday 10 May, 2.00pm at the South Chapel, Eastern Suburbs Crematorium, Botany
