Caltex Socceroo Tom Rogic has been labelled a “Magic Man” and a future star of European football as the playmaker prepares to make his comeback to top-flight football.
“He’s back in the squad,” Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers reportedly told media ahead of the weekend’s clash with Partick Thistle.
“The magic man is back – what a player.
“I think he can grow into one of the top midfield players in Europe.
“That’s what he can develop into – there’s no doubt he’s top class.
“He’s a good boy, too, and devoted to his profession.
“He’s a key player,” said Rodgers.
Rogic hasn’t played for nearly four months with a recurring ankle injury, but scored ten goals for Celtic before being side-lined just before Christmas.
He also missed Australia's two World Cup qualifiers last month.
“You saw him grow in the Champions league,” added Rodgers.
“You saw him against Manchester City and you just purr at his quality.
“There was a big disappointment when he got injured because the week building up to it he was amazing.
“Top players know where there is space and he’s as good as any I’ve seen at finding space.”
“He’s a great boost for us in this last ten games.”
If Rogic comes through the rest of the SPL season unscathed, he is sure to be in the reckoning for the Caltex Socceroos’ World Cup qualifier against Saudi Arabia on June 8, a friendly with Brazil a few days later in Melbourne and the Confederations Cup in Russia later that month.
