Tight at the top at the Indigenous Football Festival

Day 2 of the FFA Indigenous Football Festival produced some more entertaining football with all three groups tight at the top.

In Group A of the Men-s competition, Yallorin of the North (North Queensland) produced a stunning performance to beat the Borroloola Cyclones 5-0, while in opening match of the day J Bendessi leading Wakala to a 6-0 win over Victorian side Marngrook Meenteel. Bendessi grabbed a hat-trick for his side.

In Group B, Giralang Galaang (Dubbo) and Western Australian side Maali both recorded their second victories of the tournament. Maali kicked with a solid 4-0 win over Tasmanian side Tarrabah, with both J Collard and C Papertalk grabbing a brace of goals. In the second game, Giralang defeated Alice Springs side Eritja 5-0 with L Usher also grabbing two goals.

The Girls competition is set for a interesting final round on Tuesday, with three teams in the running to finish at the top of the group standings. Yallorin of the North and Borrolloola Cyclones played out a 1-1 draw with the Cyclones grabbing a last minute equaliser. In the second match, South Australia-s Wakala beat Miyay Yulu-gi 4-1.

All teams will participate in a training day with North Queensland Fury on Monday 6 July, with matches resume on Tuesday 7 July.
