Retired Hyundai A-League Champion Ufuk Talay has been announced as Assistant Coach for AIS Men-s Football Program.
Following a distinguished domestic career in Australia and abroad including stints at Marconi, Galatasaray and Sydney FC, Talay finished his career in the Hyundai A-League at the end of the 2010/11 season before stepping into coaching .
Working alongside AIS Senior Coach Tony Vidmar, the former Sydney FC and North Queensland Fury midfielder was given the position after impressing during the recent A-License course.
“Ufuk stood out at the recent A-licence course and it-s great to have another former top level player teaching the new generation,” said FFA Technical Director Han Berger.
“He has a solid foundation in the game and apart from a strong playing background is also astute in his understanding of the game at a technical level.”
AIS Director Matt Favier also welcomed Talay-s appointment.
“We are delighted to have Ufuk join the AIS football program. He and Tony represent a new breed of Australian football coaches and they have all the elements to help steer some of the best young football talent in the country,” he said.
“Ufuk-s professional playing background certainly helps as he knows what it takes to make it to the top.”
