Following the success of the recent Small-Sided Games Ambassador visits in Toowoomba, Oxley, Sunshine Coast and Sandgate, Football Federation Australia and Football Queensland are pleased to be conducting visits to Mitchelton, Brisbane City, Dalby and Warwick over the coming weeks.

“We-ve had some great feedback and shared in a lot of discussions with coaches, parents, and players, it-s great to see so many clubs having huge success with the new concept”, said Phil Hazlett, FFA-s regional participation manager for Queensland.

“It is important that we (FFA) continue to aide clubs in this process, and continue to reward the hard work of the volunteers at club level with these types of visits.”

FFA have made a few changes to the ambassador program.

While junior players have had the chance to meet some Queensland Roar players and can even have a player act as the leader for their game, the coaches and parents are now having the chance to gain some valuable one-on-one coach education.

FFA ambassador and coach of the Queensland State League side, Brisbane Strikers, Stuart McLaren will provide a practical coaching session for all coaches and parents involved in Small-Sided Games at Mitchleton and Brisbane City over the next two weeks.

NWQ Regional Development Officer, Glen Bowmen will provide the coaching session for Dalby and Warwick.

The new Small-Sided Games DVD has been made available to all coaches and completes the FFA-issued resources to help clubs and coaches coach and run Small-Sided Games. All other resources (parent information, grassroots certificate, and various articles and updates) are available from clubs and zones, or on the FFA and FQ web sites.

“While we are happy to service the clubs in anyway we can, I would strongly encourage clubs to host the FFA Grassroots coaching certificate for new coaches involved in Small-Sided Games.”

“This certificate has been developed in conjunction with the small-sided games roll out and provides participants with some basic yet vital coaching skills and sessions to help with their small-sided games coaching” said Hazlett.
