Following their 2-1 extra-time win over Korea Republic in the Asian Cup final, Ange Postecoglou's men have jumped an incredible 37 places and sit fourth in the Asian Confederation.
The Jump is the second largest in Socceroos history, with the national team jumping 40 places (89th to 49th) in 2004 under Frank Farina.
Asian Cup quarter finalists Iran are the region's highest-placed nation (41st), followed by Korea Republic (54th) and Japan (55th).
The Socceroos’ highest-ever ranking was a lofty 14th under Pim Verbeek back in 2009.
World Cup winners Germany still lead the way ahead of Argentina, Colombia, Belgium and Netherlands in the top five.
Australia faces Germany in a friendly match in Kaiserslautern on March 25.
