Socceroos' latest FIFA rankings revealed

The Socceroos have jumped two places to number 63 in the latest FIFA rankings which were announced today.

Australia was ranked 65 a month ago, dropping two spots following inactivity in February till late March.

However, Australia played two friendlies in Europe – an impressive 2-2 draw with world champion Germany and a 0-0 with FYR Macedonia - in late March.

Previously in February, the Socceroos had rocketed up 37 places to 63 after their Asian Cup triumph in January.

The Socceroos’ average position since the rankings began is 47.

On April 14, the Socceroos’ World Cup qualifier first stage opponents will be announced in Kuala Lumpur.

Australia is set to face some of the region’s minnows, such the likes of Timor Leste, India, Cambodia or Laos in the draw with the qualifiers kicking off in June.
