Ryan's Valencia in all Spanish Europa League tie

Mat Ryan's Valencia will face a tricky task in the UEFA Europa League Round of 16 after drawing fellow La Liga outfit Athletic Bilbao on Friday.

Valencia cruised into the Round of 16 with a 4-0 away win over Rapid Vienna on Friday (AEDT), completing a crushing 10-0 aggregate victory.

Ryan made a host of crucial saves in the tie to cap his second straight clean sheet in the continental competition.

Valencia are unbeaten in their past five matches but striker Alvaro Negredo admits Bilbao pose a difficult assignment for Valencia.

"Athletic are not the team we wanted right now - it would have been better for us to meet later," he told UEFA's official website.

"Now we are on a good run of form and I hope we manage to get through, although we know we're up against difficult opponents.

"It's going to be a very tight tie. They are also on a good run. Now we have to play two games against them and we'll see what happens."

Elsewhere, Robbie Kruse's Bayer Leverkusen will also face Spanish opposition after being pitted against Villarreal.
