Caltex Socceroos keeper Mat Ryan was in fine form but has missed out on the semi-finals of the Europa League overnight.
The Caltex Socceroos goalkeeper has played a full 90 minutes for his Belgian side Genk in their 1-1 home draw with Celta Vigo in the second leg of their quarter-final tie.
The La Liga side arrived with a slight advantage after a 3-2 win in the first leg a week ago.
Ryan denied Celta midfielder Claudio Beauvue with a pair of superb saves either side of half-time.
In the 44th minute, Beauvue fired a shot towards the bottom corner which the Australian custodian kept out.
Seven minutes after the break, the Vigo man latched onto a precise defence-splitting pass and headed goalwards before a flying Ryan again kept the contest scoreless.
But he could do little about the opening goal after 63 minutes.
Celta’s Danish striker Pione Sisto weaved past some would-be defenders before unleashing a magnificent strike from the edge of the box into the top right corner.
But just four minutes later, Genk equalised, Leandro Trossard making a great solo run before firing into the bottom corner from outside the box.
Despite some late forays, Ryan’s side was unable to find the all-important goal which would have sent them through on the away goals rule.
Instead, Celta Vigo advance to the semi-finals 4-3 on aggregate.
