Riverland JSA Kicks Off Optus Small-Sided Football

Optus Small-Sided Football is the latest craze sweeping across Australian Football fields, and it’s no different in the Riverland region of South Australia.

Optus Small Sided Football is the latest craze sweeping across Australian Football fields, and it-s no different in the Riverland region of South Australia…..

The Riverland JSA kicked off its Optus Small Sided Football season in Renmark on Sunday 3rd May with both boys and girls from surrounding neighbouring country towns including Barmera, Loxton and Berri all participating in the Football Federation Australia driven format.

With perfect playing conditions, for many children, it provided them with the opportunity to score a goal for the first time in what is hoped to be a long and successful playing career. Regardless of how many goals players or teams scored, every goal was celebrated as if it was the first. The support shown by parents was tremendous, with ample cheers of delight and continuous words of encouragement. It would be safe to say all involved had a memorable first up experience.

At the completion of games and to help continue with the excitement, Ashlee Faul, current Womens State and SASI player and FFA-s Regional Participation Manager Vito Basile, conducted a separate girls and boys penalty kick shoot out, in which prizes, Adelaide United stickers, posters and ‘Be Active and Read- pamphlets were presented to the players for their efforts.

Congratulations to the Riverland JSA for their ability to organise such a wonderful day and to all parents who contributed in their own ways to create the perfect environment for the children to participate and have fun.
