South Australia and Queensland have claimed the honours on the final day of competition at the 2004 Qantas National Talent Identification Championships for women. The South Australians winning the Under 17s national title with the Queenslanders claiming top spot in the Under 15s age group.

South Australia and Queensland have claimed the honours on the final day of competition at the 2004 Qantas National Talent Identification Championships for women. The South Australians winning the Under 17s national title with the Queenslanders claiming top spot in the Under 15s age group.   South Australia won their final with a solid 2-0 win over Victoria courtesy of first half goals to Hannah Vogt and Katrina Bexis. The Croweaters were deserved winners having won all of their six games throughout the course of the eight-day tournament conceding just one goal in the process. The ACT finished third thanks to a first half goal from Georgie Chapman and a late penalty to Nicole Somi giving them a 2-0 win over Northern NSW.   Queensland won the Under 15 title with 1-0 win over rivals NSW in a match that could have gone either way. Tennielle Boaler scored the game-s only goal in the 38th minute with the result ensuring the Queenslanders finished with the incredible record of having gone through the tournament without conceding a goal or dropping a point. In the third place play-off Northern NSW won 2-1 over Victoria thanks to goals from Leia Smith and Lauren Hough with Annabelle Gibney replying for the Victorians.

The best player award was taken out by Queensland defender Kim Carroll in the 17s age division while Elle Crowe representing Northern Territory won the best player award in the Under 15s. ACT took out the 17s Fair Play Award with NSW Metropolitan winning the same award in the 15s.   Next years tournament will be contested in the 16s and 18s age-brackets in keeping with the age requirements of the 2006 FIFA U-19 Women-s World Championship.
