Pulse Of The Nation Inspires Qantas Socceroos

Aussie heartbeats recorded for official team song to be written and performed by Rogue Traders.

Westfield is giving Australians a unique opportunity to be part of music and football history by recording their heartbeats for the official Qantas Socceroos- team song as they prepare for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

The heartbeat recordings will add a unique beat to the official Qantas Socceroos' team song which is being written and performed by hot music act Rogue Traders.

The recording will allow Australians to share the growing World Cup football fever and inspire the Qantas Socceroos to victory on the eve of their departure.

From May 6 to May 9 Westfield Pulse of the Nation events will be held at selected Westfield centres and Australians will be able to record their heartbeats via special digital stethoscopes.

Up to 100 heartbeats will then be added to the recording and Sony Music Australia will make the official team song available online from Monday 24 May.

The song will be available on Rogue Traders- forthcoming album “Night of the Living Drums” available in stores and online Friday 25 June.

The Qantas Socceroos- official team song will be played at the send off match on Monday 24 May at the MCG.

The names of all Australians who donated heartbeats will be published in a commemorative book and officially presented to the Qantas Socceroos in South Africa during their 2010 FIFA World Cup campaign.

“This is a fantastic initiative to build excitement and national unity and it will help recreate the same level of involvement and excitement we saw in 2006,” said Westfield and FFA Chairman, Mr Frank Lowy.

"Being asked to support the Socceroos on their World Cup campaign is perhaps the greatest single honour we have received in our careers."

"We are also delighted to be able to involve the general public in the creation of this song - to literally bring together the heart-beats of our nation - and to combine them into one, inspirational moment.

That way we can all cheer our boys onto victory, “ said James Ash & Mindi Jackson, Rogue Traders.
