The Football Federation Australia (FFA) independent Disciplinary Committee - consisting of John Marshall SC (Chair), Lachlan Gyles SC and David Barrett – convened to consider an incident referred to it, which arose in or around the 36th minute of Melbourne Victory FC’s Round 26 Hyundai A-League Match against Wellington Phoenix on Saturday, 2 April 2016. The incident involved Besart Berisha of Melbourne Victory (the Player).
The matter was referred to the independent Disciplinary Committee by Melbourne Victory for hearing and determination of the sole question of sanction.
The independent Disciplinary Committee determined that the Player must serve a suspension of the Mandatory Match only.
As the Player served the Mandatory Match suspension in Round 27 of the Hyundai A-League, the Player will be eligible to participate in Melbourne Victory FC’s elimination final against Brisbane Roar on Friday, 15 April 2016.
The independent Disciplinary Committee will deliver their full determination, with reasons, in due course.
