My Dear Friends,
The renaissance of football in Australia is well underway. The unbelievable success of the Socceroos at the FIFA World Cup, the ever growing popularity of the A-League and our admission into AFC have to date been the shining stars of this renaissance. However, behind these highlights much groundwork has been happening to initiate plans to assist the grassroots of the game.
These National Registration Regulations are the first of a series of major initiatives from the FFA and will be important unifiers of the Game in Australia. You should not be concerned about uniform regulations as Football is played by one set of laws on the field and what I am presenting to you is one set of rules to govern the Game off the field.
For too long our Game has been administered disparately and without a common framework which has restricted our ability to succeed as a sport. These Regulations ensure that from now on football will operate uniformly across Australia for the benefit of clubs and most importantly to ensure that all participants in the Game of Football are treated equally and fairly and thereby provide opportunity for all.
Importantly these new Regulations ensure that we are compliant with FIFA and therefore part of the world wide football family. This is important for the orderly conduct of the Game and so that our young players are able to achieve their aspirations on the world stage.
I commend these new Regulations to you as a unifying code which will provide the platform to develop our sport for the benefit of all participants.
Kind regards,
Frank Lowy AC Chairman Football Federation Australia
