Melbourne City are hunting their eighth consecutive win in Saturday afternoon's home contest against Newcastle Jets (kick off 5.00pm AEDT).
The three-time winners of the Westfield W-League look favourites to add another Premiership to their locker following a run of seven straight victories, the last being a 4-0 demolition of Canberra United in Round 9.
Rado Vidosic's side have built their Premiership tilt on defence (conceding just three goals) but City are also beginning to find their groove in the final third now which is an ominous sign for the rest of the competition, including Saturday's opponents Newcastle.
The Jets have just four points to their name this season and find their top four aspirations fading quickly, but one of those points was clinched in a hard-earned 1-1 draw against City back on the opening weekend. Newcastle will need to draw inspiration from that dogged showing and more if they are to avoid becoming City's next victim.
