NOTE: The match between the Western Sydney Wanderers and Melbourne Victory, originally scheduled for the weekend, was postponed due to extreme temperatures in Sydney.

Central Coast Mariners 3 – 3 Perth Glory

The Central Coast Mariners and the Perth Glory played out an exhilarating 1-1 draw that saw the Mariners do just enough to stay in the top six for another week.

The Mariners opened the scoring in the first half through Jessika Nash’s first goal in the competition. A brace early in the second half from Perth’s Sarah O’Donoghue gave the visitors an unexpected lead, before Annalise Rasmussen and Tiana Fuller helped the Mariners pull ahead once more.

However, Perth were not done, and Tijan McKenna opening her A-League Women goalscoring account in the 93rd minute meant that they would return home to Western Australia with a point.

Jessika Nash started and played the full match for the Mariners.

Western United 4 – 3 Canberra United

Western United came from behind an astonishing three times against Canberra United to win a breathtaking encounter 4-3.

Bethany Gordon scored first for Canberra United in the first half before the game opened up in the second. Keiwa Hieda’s equaliser was soon answered by a goal to Madison Ayson. A Catherine Zimmerman screamer was immediately followed by a goal of similar quality for Mary Stanic-Floody.

When Sandra Ibarguen equalised for the third time, however, Western United would make sure they weren’t caught. An 89th minute goal caused by the work of substitute Kiara De Domizio gave them the lead for the first time in the match. They would not relinquish it.

Michelle Heyman started and played the full game for Canberra, assisting their first goal. Chloe Logarzo and Chloe Lincoln also played the full match for Western United.

Sydney FC 2 – 1 Wellington Phoenix

A 98th-minute winner for Princess Ibini saw Sydney FC defeat Wellington Phoenix 2-1.

Sydney scored first through CommBank Young Matilda Maddie Caspers. Manaia Elliott equalised late in the second half, and at that stage, it appeared as if the Phoenix had done enough to walk away with a point. It was not to be – in the eighth minute of stoppage time, a flowing team move ended at the feet of Princess Ibini, who scored to give Sydney their fourth win of the season.

Melbourne City 4-3 Adelaide United

Melbourne City made history on the weekend, becoming the first team in A-League Women history to go 19 games unbeaten when they defeated Adelaide United 4-3.

Holly McNamara scored a hat trick as City kept their noses in front during the match. Adelaide didn’t go away – Ella Tonkin, Erin Healy and Zoe Tolland all scored as they kept the pressure on the defending premiers – but ultimately, City were too strong.

McNamara started the match and played 75 minutes before being withdrawn. Leah Davidson and Laura Hughes also started, while Bryleeh Henry and Karly Roestbakken were second-half substitutes.

Matilda McNamara started in the heart of Adelaide’s defence before being withdrawn in the second half when they were chasing the game.

Brisbane Roar 2 – 3 Newcastle Jets

A dramatic stoppage-time winner to Lauren Allan saw the Newcastle Jets defeat the Brisbane Roar 3-2.

Tameka Yallop scored a first-half brace that saw her move to outright second for all-time goal scorers in the A-League Women, ahead of Sam Kerr on 70. Goals to Emma Dundas and Deven Jackson kept the Jets on level terms for most of the game, and when Claire Adams saw an offside flag deny her late in the second half, the match looked destined to end with points shared.

Lauren Allan, however, had the last say. She scored a 95th-minute winner that saw the Jets secure their fifth win of the season and keep themselves in finals contention, while the Roar are now teetering on the edge of dropping out of the top six.

Yallop and Laini Freier started for Brisbane, while Sharn Freier remains unavailable due to injury. Tash Prior played the full match at centre-back for the Jets.
