Sharn Freier's Wolfsburg were unable to overcome the might of Bayern Munich in the DFB-Supercup Frauen on the weekend, falling 4-2 in their first competitive game of the season.
Elsewhere, Courtney Nevin picked up an assist in her team's Damallsvenskan victory while Winonah Heatley's Roma are one step closer to the UWCL group stages with a win in the first round of qualifying.

The Portland Thorns were unable to make their opportunities count as they were defeated 2-1 by the Utah Royals. Paige Monaghan and KK Ream were the goal scorers for the Royals before a stoppage-time goal to Julie Dufour proved only consolation for Portland. Mackenzie Arnold started in goals for the Thorns while Kaitlyn Torpey was an unused substitute.
Kansas City Current defeated the North Carolina Courage 2-0. First-half goals from Izzy Rodriguez and Lo’eau LaBonta were enough for the Current to secure all three points. Cortnee Vine was a second-half substitute for the Courage as they chased the game.
USL
DC Power came from behind to draw 2-2 with Spokane Zephyr FC. Former A-League Women’s player Sydney Cummings' second-half goal was the all-important equaliser for the Power. Morgan Aquino was the starting goalkeeper for DC Power.
Sweden
AIK Fotboll continued their dominance over Kristianstads DFF this season, walking away with a comfortable 3-0 victory on the weekend. The result means that Kristianstads are now a massive ten points away from the top three, while AIK – who were relegation threatened last season – are 12 points clear of danger. Amy Sayer and Remy Siemsen both started for Kristianstads while Jada Whyman kept yet another clean sheet for AIK.
BK Häcken overcame Vittsjö GIK 4-0 to remain second on the table. Monica Bah and Felicia Schröder both scored braces in the comfortable win. Daniela Galic started and played the full match for Vittsjö.
Courtney Nevin picked up an assist as Malmö defeated Växjö DFF 3-1. Sara Fornes scored a first-half double before Mia Persson’s 61st-minute goal sealed the result. Nevin started and played the full match for Malmö.

Germany
Super Cup
Bayern Munich lifted the first trophy of the season in Germany after they defeated Wolfsburg 4-2 in the DFB-Supercup Frauen. Bayern were the dominant team throughout, racing to a 2-0 lead in the first half before a 76th-minute red card snuffed out any chance of a Wolfsburg comeback. Sharn Freier was an unused substitute for Wolfsburg.

Frauen-Bundesliga 2
SC Sand defeated Wolfsburg II 4-0 on Sunday. Sand scored two goals in a half as they comfortably accounted for Wolfsburg’s reserves to make it two wins from two this season. Alana Murphy was unavailable for Sand, while Sharn Freier started for Wolfsburg II.
Mexico
CF Monterrey came from behind to draw 1-1 with Juárez. Monterrey had more of the opportunities, but it took until the 78th minute for them to be able to break down a stubborn defensive line. Emily Gielnik was an unused substitute for Monterrey.
Canada
Calgary Wild FC were defeated 2-0 by AFC Toronto. Zoe Burns scored both goals, either side of half-time, as Toronto held an ultimately unassailable lead. Kahli Johnson was unavailable for Calgary.
Italy
AS Roma advanced to the final rounds of UEFA Women’s Champions League qualification with a comfortable 5-1 victory over Sparta Praha. Manuela Giugliano scored a brace as the Italian team eased past their opponents. Wini Heatley was an unused substitute for Roma.
England
WSL teams embarked on their final round of pre-season preparations before the new season over the weekend.
Chelsea defeated AC Milan 4-1. Ellie Carpenter started the match at right-back, while Sam Kerr was not in the matchday squad.
Everton were defeated by Juventus 3-2 in an exciting back-and-forth contest at Goodison Park. Clare Wheeler led Everton out as captain in their final pre-season friendly.
Alanna Kennedy's London City Lionesses will be taking confidence into their WSL debut after beating Leicester City 3-1 in their final pre-season game.
France
Teagan Micah's OL Lyonnes hosted Hayley Raso's Eintracht Frankfurt in the team's final pre-season friendlies. Micah made her first start for Lyon in their 4-2 victory, while Raso came off the bench to make her first appearance for the German side.
