England

Leicester City became the first team to take points off Chelsea this season, holding the defending champions to a 1-1 draw. Despite the shot total ending up 28 to 2 in Chelsea’s favour, a Missy Goodwin first-half goal was enough to earn a point. Courtney Nevin was an unused substitute for Leicester while Sam Kerr remains unavailable through injury for Chelsea.

An equaliser to Brighton’s Marisa Olislagers meant that the Seagulls shared the points with Tottenham Hotspur, with the match ending 1-1. Spurs thought that they found the winner when Bethany England scored in he 75th minute but Brighton found a way to equalise.

Hayley Raso and Clare Hunt both started and played the full match for Spurs, while Charli Grant was an unused substitute.

Everton were shock winners against Manchester City, with two first-half goals consigning City to a 2-1 defeat. Lucy Hope and Honoka Hayashi shot Everton to a two-goal advantage that City were not able to recover from. Mary Fowler scored a penalty late in regulation time, but it proved only a consolation, with Everton securing their second win of the season.

Both Fowler and Alanna Kennedy started for City. Kennedy was withdrawn at half-time as her side chased goals. Clare Wheeler played the full match for Everton in midfield and was a huge part of their win, winning all of her tackles and winning the majority of her duels.

A first-half Adriana Leon brace helped Aston Villa to a 3-1 victory over West Ham. The Hammers did equalise early in first half – a goal to Viviane Asseyi was assisted by Katrina Gorry – but Villa took a lead into half time, and sealed the result with Kenza Dali’s second-half goal. Gorry started and played the full match for West Ham.

Arsenal squeezed past Liverpool 1-0 to go into the winter break seven points from the league leaders and only one point behind City in second. Alessia Russo’s first-half goal was enough to secure the three points in a win that was never fully comfortable, but that was fully deserved, despite Mariona Caldentey’s missed penalty.

Kyra Cooney-Cross, Steph Catley and Caitlin Foord all started for Arsenal, while Teagan Micah was between the posts for Liverpool.

The league now goes on a break until January 18.

France

Lyon eased past Nantes 5-1 to keep themselves three points clear on top of the table heading into the winter break. Melchie Dumornay scored a brace while Lindsey Horan, Vanessa Gilles and Amel Majri were also on the scoresheet. Ellie Carpenter played the full match for Lyon at right-back.

After playing in the UWCL later this week, Lyon will return to league action on January 9.

Germany

TSG Hoffenheim defeated SGS Essen 1-0 in an important three points before the winter break. Italian international Selina Cerci was the goalscorer in the first half, and they were able to hold onto their lead in the second. Jamilla Rankin started and played the full match at left-back.
