FC Nordsjælland v SL Benfica
Wini Heatley's FC Nordsjælland were defeated 3-1 by last season's quarter-finalists, S.L. Benfica. The side from Portugal took a 3-0 lead going into the break.
Nordsjælland responded after the interval through Anna Walter to make it 3-1, however, couldn't turn around the result to advance to the next stage of qualifying. Heatley played the full 90 minutes and captained the side.
FC Twente v Cardiff City FC
There were six different goal scorers as FC Twente defeated Cardiff City 7-0 in their Round 1 Qualifier for the UEFA Women’s Champions League.
It was a comprehensive performance from the Dutch champions, who never looked troubled. Daniela Galic made her competitive debut for the club in this match, the 18-year-old coming off the bench in the 68th minute.
They will play Iceland’s Valur Reykjavik on Sunday, 2am AEST in the next round.
Arsenal v Rangers
Caitlin Foord scored four goals as the Gunners started their UEFA Women’s Champions League campaign with a 6-0 victory over Rangers.
The Scottish side did their best to frustrate Arsenal, keeping them to 1-0 at half-time, but the floodgates opened in the second half. Among Foord’s goals included a back post header and a stunning volley that bode well for the season ahead.

Kyra Cooney-Cross also started for Arsenal, playing 80 minutes. Steph Catley was ruled out of the match with a minor muscle injury.
Arsenal’s next opponents will be Rosenborg BK Kvinner, who won the Norwegian Cup and finished second in the league in 2023. The match will be played on Sunday, 4.30am AEST.
