Matildas Abroad Preview: UWCL Round 2 Qualifiers; Aussies go head-to-head in CONCACAF W Champions Cup

The first leg of the UEFA Women’s Champions League round 2 qualifiers get underway tonight. While Aussies will go head-to-head in the CONCACAF W Champions Cup.

UEFA Women's Champions League

FC Twente will take on Croatian champions ŽNK Osijek on Wednesday, 10.30pm AEST. It will be a challenging first leg of the tie away from home but the Dutch side will know that if they can come away with a result in Croatia, they will be the favourites to advance to the group stage. Daniela Galic will be available for FC Twente.

Paris FC have the monumental task of getting a result against Manchester City on Thursday, 2.45am AEST. However, they didn’t get their reputation as giant killers last season for nothing – and they will back themselves to get the tie off to a good start in front of home fans.

Sarah Hunter will be available for Paris FC, while Mary Fowler and Alanna Kennedy will look to line up in sky blue.

BK Häcken host Arsenal on Thursday, 3am AEST in a vital first leg for the Swedish side. While the Gunners will go into the match as favourites, Häcken will need to make full use of their home leg in order to be any chance of toppling the WSL side.

Kyra Cooney-Cross, and Caitlin Foord will be available for Arsenal. Steph Catley has not recovered from the minor injury that kept her out of round 1 qualifiers, and will therefore be unavailable. Aivi Luik will not be available for Häcken.

CONCACAF W Champions Cup

Emily van Egmond and Kaitlyn Torpey's San Diego Wave host Mackenzie Arnold's Portland Thorns in both sides second game of the CONCACAF W Champions Cup.

The two NWSL sides go into MatchDay 2 with a win under their belt in their opening game, with Wave overcoming Sante Fe 2-0, while Thorns recorded a 3-1 win over Club América.

With the top two teams in each group advancing to the knockout stage, Wave and Thorns will be doing everything they can to remain at the top of the standings.

This game will kick off on Thursday at 12:00pm AEST and is free to watch on the CONCACAF YouTube Channel.
