Matildas Abroad Preview: Thorns with top four opportunity

The Portland Thorns have the opportunity to head into the international break in the top four when they take on Chicago Stars this weekend.

Elsewhere, both Remy Siemsen and Amy Sayer started in Kristianstads' 3-1 victory.

United States

Angel City FC travel to take on KC Current on Saturday, 10am AEST. The Current are top of the table, but Angel City will know that a point could take them into the playoff spots. Alanna Kennedy is expected to be available for Angel City.

The North Carolina Courage host the Houston Dash on Sunday, 9.30am AEST. The Courage have looked to turn their season around after a poor start and will be hoping to go into the break on the back of three points. Cortnee Vine will be available for the Courage after starting their previous two games.

Portland Thorns take on the Chicago Stars on Sunday, 12pm AEST. The Thorns will go into the game as heavy favourites, with the Stars having only picked up six points in twelve games so far. Kaitlyn Torpey will be available, while Mackenzie Arnold will hope to make her return from injury.

Canada

Calgary Wild FC take on Ottawa Rapid FC on Sunday, 4am AEST. Every game is vital in a closely contested league and this game is no different, with both teams locked on 11 points each after eight games. Kahli Johnson will be unavailable as she continues to recover from injury.

Sweden

Kristianstads DFF came from behind to defeat Linköping 3-1 and go within goal difference of European qualification places. Emilija Petrovic, Alice Nilsson and Beata Olsson were the goal scorers for Kristianstads as they completed the comeback in the second half. Amy Sayer and Remy Siemsen both started for Kristianstads.

AIK Fotboll travel to take on bottom-of-the-table Alingsås on Monday, 12am AEST. After narrowly avoiding relegation last season, AIK are on track to escape the relegation battle altogether this time around. Jada Whyman will be available for AIK.
