CommBank Matildas striker Sam Kerr is set to make her return to club football over the weekend as Chelsea open the season against Manchester City.
Elsewhere, Hayley Raso and Sharn Freier will hope to make their competitive debuts for their clubs in the Frauen-Bundesliga, while Teagan Micah will have the chance to do the same for Lyon.

Chelsea and Manchester City open the new WSL season on Saturday, 4.30am AEST. Chelsea completed the domestic season undefeated last time out but will face a stern test immediately against a fellow title contender. Chelsea Head Coach Sonia Bompastor confirmed that Sam Kerr will be in the matchday squad on Saturday for the first time since rupturing her ACL in January 2024, while Ellie Carpenter will look to build on her pre-season minutes for her new side and make her WSL debut. Mary Fowler will be unavailable for City as she continues her rehabilitation from the same injury.
Arsenal host newly promoted London City Lionesses on Saturday, 10.30pm AEST. There is plenty of intrigue around the Lionesses after several big money signings, and there will be no better way to create headlines than if they can overcome the UEFA Women’s Champions League winners Arsenal. Kyra Cooney-Cross, Steph Catley and Caitlin Foord will all be available for the Gunners, while Alanna Kennedy is expected to make her competitive debut for the Lionesses in this game.
Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham face off on Sunday, 9pm AEST. Both teams will be keen to show their early season credentials and avoid getting pulled into a relegation battle. Charli Grant and Clare Hunt will be available for Spurs, while Katrina Gorry is expected to line up for the Hammers.
Liverpool and Everton will play an early-season Merseyside Derby on Sunday, 9pm AEST. Both sides will have designs on a mid-table finish and perhaps even pushing the bigger teams in the competition for European places. Clare Wheeler will be available for Everton.
Leicester City will be keen to dispel preseason noise about relegation when they travel to take on Manchester United on Sunday, 9pm AEST. Any kind of result against a team expected to challenge for the top three will be incredibly welcome for the Foxes. New signing Emily van Egmond will be available for Leicester.

Sweden
Vittsjö GIK host FC Rosengård on Saturday, 2am AEST. Three points are vital for both teams to give them some extra breathing room away from any kind of relegation battle. Daniela Galic will be available for Vittsjö.
AIK Fotboll take on Piteå IF on Saturday, 9pm AEST. AIK are now safely mid-table and will be looking to finish the season as well as possible, giving them a springboard into the next. Jada Whyman is expected to line up in goals for AIK.
Top of the table Malmö FF take on third-place Hammarby in a match with huge title implications on Saturday, 9pm AEST. Malmö are two points clear ahead of Hammarby and BK Häcken, and will need to secure the three points to stay atop the table for another week. A win would have the added benefit of being a huge blow to Hammarby’s title aspirations. Courtney Nevin will be available for Malmö.
Kristianstads DFF travel to play BK Häcken on Sunday, 12am AEST. Kristianstads are now ten points away from European places and will need to go on an almighty winning run to reach the top three. A win against second-place Häcken would catapult them back into contention. Remy Siemsen and Amy Sayer will be available for Kristianstads.
United States
NWSL
Portland Thorns take on Racing Louisville on Saturday, 10am AEST. The game is a crucial one for both teams as they sit towards the bottom of the playoff places. Mackenzie Arnold and Kaitlyn Torpey will be available for the Thorns.
The North Carolina Courage and the Utah Royals face off on Sunday, 9.30am. A win for the Courage could see them finish the round on the cusp of the top eight, while the Royals are currently bottom of the table. Cortnee Vine will be available for Utah.

Eintracht Frankfurt hosts SGS Essen on Saturday, 2.30am AEST in the opening round of the Frauen-Bundesliga. Frankfurt will hope to give itself a lift in the league ahead of an all-important UWCL qualifier next week against Real Madrid. Hayley Raso will hope to make her competitive debut for Frankfurt in this game.
VfL Wolfsburg take on Hamburger SV on Monday, 12am AEST. Wolfsburg are perennial title contenders and will hope to get their season off to a good start. Sharn Freier will be available for Wolfsburg.
Jamilla Rankin's TSG 1899 Hoffenheim kick-off their league campaign against FC Carl Zeiss Jena.
2.Frauen-Bundesliga
SC Sand take on VfL Bochum on Sunday, 10pm AEST. Sand have a perfect record after the first two games and will hope to continue that against Bochum. Alana Murphy will hope to make her debut for Sand on Sunday.
VfL Wolfsburg II take on Bayern Munich II on Sunday, 7pm AEST. Wolfsburg may choose to play Sharn Freier in their second team as they have done so far this season.
France
French Champions Lyon take on Olympique de Marseille on Monday, 1.30am AEST in the opening round of the season. Lyon are expected to win every game they play in the league, and they’ll be hoping to make a statement in round one. Teagan Micah will be available for Lyon.
Mexico
CF Monterrey take on UANL Tigres on Monday, 11am AEST. Tigres are currently second on the table and will be hoping for a win to take them above arch-rivals América, while a win for Monterrey could lift them out of midtable. Emily Gielnik will be available for Monterrey.
Canada
Calgary Wild FC take on Vancouver Rise on Sunday, 9am AEST. Calgary still have time to make the finals, but will need to start winning soon if they are to ascend into the top four. Kahli Johnson will be hoping to return from injury against Vancouver.
