UEFA Women’s Champions League
Matchday 2 of the UEFA Women’s Champions League concluded overnight.
Chelsea defeated FC Twente 3-1 thanks to goals to Aggie Beever-Jones, Maika Hamano and Guro Reiten. The Blues could afford to rotate their lineup against their less fancied Dutch opposition and were able to easily sweep past them, racing to a two-goal lead inside 18 minutes.
Daniela Galic was an unused substitute for FC Twente. Meanwhile, Sam Kerr remains unavailable with injury for Chelsea and was not named in their UWCL group stage squad.
Lyon continued on their merry way, defeating Wolfsburg 2-0. Captain Wendie Renard scored first before a Lindsay Horan penalty sealed the result in the second half. Ellie Carpenter started and played the full match for Lyon at right back.
England
Brighton & Hove Albion take on Manchester United on Saturday, 10.30pm AEDT. Both sides are currently sitting on nine points, although United have a game in hand on Brighton and will be considered favourites heading into the tie.
If Brighton can get a result here, their aspirations of fighting for continental football next season might not be so farfetched. Charlie Rule will be hoping to be available for the first time this season for Dario Vidosic’s side.
Manchester City host Aston Villa on Sunday, 10.15pm AEDT. After surviving a scare in Europe midweek, City will be keen to make a statement about their title aspirations in the WSL before the international break.
Mary Fowler and Alanna Kennedy both started and scored in the UWCL, and will be available to line up again if called upon in the WSL.
Liverpool host Crystal Palace on Monday, 12am AEDT. Both sides will back themselves to walk away with a valuable three points to further separate themselves from the bottom parts of the table. Teagan Micah is unavailable for Liverpool due to injury.
Leicester City and Everton face off on Monday, 1am AEDT. Both teams are winless so far this season and will be desperate to get their first three points on the board before the international break next week.
Courtney Nevin will be available for the Foxes, while Clare Wheeler will look to continue her run of form in Everton’s midfield.
Arsenal will face their first test in the WSL after the departure of coach Jonas Eidevall when they take on West Ham on Monday, 1am AEDT. Players admitted last week that, after the start to their season, they’ll have to have a near-perfect record to remain in title contention. There should be no better time to start against the Hammers – but no game is easy in the WSL.
There could be four Aussies in action in this clash. Caitlin Foord, Kyra Cooney-Cross and Steph Catley will all be available fort he Gunners, while Katrina Gorry will likely line up in midfield for West Ham.
The round finishes up with a London Derby, with Chelsea hosting Tottenham Hotspur on Monday, 4.45am AEDT. Chelsea go into the match as favourites, particularly after being able to rest many of their players midweek. Spurs have proven to be no easybeats this season, however, and will endeavour to get a result against the defending champions.
Charli Grant and Clare Hunt will all be available for Tottenham, while it is unclear if Hayley Raso has recovered from an injury that saw her miss last week's game. Sam Kerr remains unavailable for Chelsea with injury.

France
Lyon takes on Paris FC on Monday, 12am AEDT. It is a big clash for both sides, as Lyon looks to maintain their perfect record, while any point for Paris FC against the defending champions would go a long way to lifting their confidence for the rest of the season.
Ellie Carpenter will be available for Lyon, while Sarah Hunter is likely to see minutes from the bench for Paris FC.
Sweden
AIK Fotboll travel to take on Växjö DFF on Sunday, 12am AEDT. With three games to go, it is now or never for AIK as they sit two points from potential safety, with their status in the league on the line. Their opponents Växjö are comfortably midtable.
Jada Whyman will likely be the goalkeeper for AIK and her second clean sheet of the season would do wonders for their chances of survival.
Kristianstads DFF face off against Linköping on Monday, 12am AEDT. Kristianstads are now out of contention for European places and are playing to maintain their status as ‘best of the rest’ in fourth. Linköping will be motivated by the knowledge that three points would guarantee them safety for another year.
Remy Siemsen and Clare Polkinghorne will be available for Kristianstads, while Amy Sayer continues her injury rehabilitation.
BK Häcken play Djurgården on Monday, 3am AEDT. Häcken are in second, three points clear of third, and while they are out of contention to win the title they will be hoping to remain in second for an easier path in the UWCL next season. Aivi Luik will be unavailable for Häcken.
United States
The San Diego Wave take on KC Current on Sunday, 4am AEDT. With two games remaining of the regular season, the Wave will have to rely on a series of incredibly unlikely – if not impossible – results to see them qualify for the play-offs.
Emily van Egmond and Kaitlyn Torpey will be available for the Wave.
The Portland Thorns and Racing Louisville will clash on Sunday, 10.30am AEDT. Three points for Louisville could see them finish the round in the play-off spots, so they will be highly incentivised to get the job done against an already qualified Thorns.
Mackenzie Arnold travelled to Vancouver midweek and was named on the bench as Thorns advanced to the CONCACAF W Champions Cup knockout stage.
The North Carolina Courage will travel to take on Bay FC on Sunday, 1pm AEDT. The Courage will be hoping to use the game to prepare for play-offs, while Bay FC are fighting for their spot in the top eight. Cortnee Vine is likely to be available for the Courage.
You can catch the NWSL live and on demand on Optus Sport.
Denmark
After a win in the Danish Cup midweek, FC Nordsjælland are back in action in the league against Odense Boldklub Q on Sunday, 12am AEDT. They currently sit on top of the table by three points and will be hoping for another win to keep the defending champions in pole position. Winonah Heatley will be available for Nordsjælland.
Netherlands
FC Twente will take on Telstar in the league on Monday, 1.45am AEDT. The defending champions have gotten off to a less-than-ideal start with only one win from their first three games and will be hoping to turn that around this weekend. Daniela Galic will be available for Twente.
