Iconic Man United star David Beckham is tipped to be a headline act for the clash, with the 41-year-old having toured Australia with LA Galaxy on three occasions (2007, 2010, 2011).
United were originally expected to face Juventus but it is understood a deal collapsed with the 32-time Serie A champions.
Coincidentally, Juventus’ current squad will head Down Under for the 2016 International Champions Cup in July where they will face Hyundai A-League outfit Melbourne Victory and Tottenham Hotspur at the MCG.
Manchester United have a strong supporter base in Australia with the side playing a friendly against the Foxtel A-League All Stars in 2013 in front of more than 83,000 fans at Sydney’s ANZ Stadium.
The Legends concept was a major success earlier this year with the likes of Steven Gerrard, Robbie Fowler and Luis Garcia featuring for a Liverpool Legends outfit against the Australian Legends.
In a highly entertaining fixture, Garcia netted a brace while legendary striker Ian Rush scored as the Reds emerged 4-0 winners in front of more than 40,000 fans.
