Subway Socceroos defender Lewis Miller is on the move, signing with Blackburn Rovers from Hibernian FC on a three-year deal.
Miller has signed through to June 2028 for an undisclosed fee with an option for a fourth year, subject to confirmation of a working visa and international clearance.
The dynamic full-back joins the EFL Championship outfit, who finished seventh last season and will be hoping to help his new club build on their Premier League promotion aspirations.
Miller had spent the previous three seasons with Hibs after joining in 2022 and accumulated 85 appearances with five goals and four assists for the Scottish outfit.
He also put pen-to-paper on a one-year contract extension back in April but now becomes the Blue and Whites' fifth summer acquisition.
The 24-year-old arrives at Ewood Park, determined to make a strong impression, following in the footsteps of former Socceroos who have worn the Rovers jersey, including Brett Emerton, Lucas Neill, Vince Grella, Robbie Slater and John Filan.
Miller, known for his industry and tireless work rate, has amassed 14 caps and two goals for his country since his debut against England at Wembley Stadium in October 2023, while establishing himself as a regular during Tony Popovic's reign.
Upon agreeing to join Rovers, Miller told the club's official website: "I’m buzzing and I’ve been able to soak in everything since I drove through the entrance and saw the building."
“It was such a realisation moment for me and my dad because we’ve now come to the Championship and joined a massive club with such a great history.
“I rocked up, four cameras were staring at me, and I thought ‘oh, right, here we go!’
“I’ve been speaking with Rudy (Gestede, Rovers Head of Football Operations) and he’s emphasised that this is the right place to be. I really like where this club is planning on going and I’m so excited to be here now.
“After qualifying for the World Cup with Australia, it’s felt like everything has been going in my favour since then. I’ve had contact with a few clubs in England, but once Rovers and Rudy got me on the phone, it was a done deal with the plans and the quality of the squad.
“It fills me with confidence that we can get to the play-offs and then hopefully get promoted, because that’s what we’re all playing football for."
Blackburn open its 2025/26 EFL Championship campaign away to West Bromwich Albion on Sunday, 10 August at 12:00am.
