On a bitterly cold night at Casadio Park in Mount Gambier 32 local club coaches were pleasantly surprised when Qantas Socceroo Josip Skoko attended the launch of Active Factor Top Shots program. Skoko, who was born in Mount Gambier and was in town to visit family, took time out from his busy schedule to speak to the coaches before he joins the remainder of the squad in Melbourne for the clash against Greece.
Josip was full of praise for the junior skills program and even joined the coaches on the park to discuss the finer aspects of the demonstrations. At the conclusion of the programmed session Mount Gambier-s very own Socceroo joined the kids for a question & answer session and posed for individual photographs.
The following morning, the Mayor of Mount Gambier, Steve Perryman, hosted a civic reception for Josip Skoko at which Josip received several presentations from the community including being given the keys to the City of Mount Gambier. The Mayor praised Football Federation Australia, Adelaide United FC, Football Federation South Australia and in particular, Josip, for providing a four day feast of opportunities for the fan, the player and the coach.
