Irvine wins top honour at Burton Albion

After Aaron Mooy won Huddersfield Town's Player of the Year this week, the same accolade has been bestowed on Caltex Socceroo rising star Jackson Irvine at his club Burton Albion.

Overnight, Irvine cleaned up at his Championship club's awards night, winning three accolades.

The 24-year-old attacking midfielder won golden boot, players' player of the season and the fans' player of the season.

It's justifiable recognition for the Melbourne-born midfielder who's enjoyed a superb season at the Championship strugglers after signing from Scotland's Ross County during the off-season.

He's also transferred that form to the national team, making his full debut and scoring his first Socceroos goal in March against Iraq and UAE. 

Irvine looms as a key man on June 8 when Australia host Saudi Arabia in a crucial World Cup qualifier at the Adelaide Oval.
