Ever wondered what New Year resolutions are top of the list for stars of the Hyundai A-League?

From mastering the art of cooking, being more punctual to scoring more goals and winning the Hyundai A-League competition, football players around the country have set their New Year resolutions for 2009.

And here are some of their top picks for 2009.

“To score my first Hyundai A-League goal and to help the Mariners secure our first Hyundai A-League Championship. Also to become better than Danny Vukovic at all PSP games,” said Alex Wilkinson from Central Coast Mariners.

“Keep developing my game; broaden my horizon beyond pasta and sandwiches and master the art of cooking,” said Shannon Cole from Sydney FC.

“Improve my golf handicap. It-s currently 16 - but aiming to get it down to the point where I don-t throw my clubs or balls away in frustration. My favourite course is Sanctuary Lakes and you-ll find me down there most Sundays,” said Archie Thompson from Melbourne Victory.

“To score more goals, win the Hyundai A-League Grand Final this season and spend more time with my family and friends,” said Travis Dodd from Adelaide United.

“To get changed earlier before the match. I-m normally putting my playing shirt on when we get the call to go onto the pitch - as captain I-m leading the team, so I definitely need to get there on time,” said Jamie Coyne from Perth Glory.

“To score at least one goal, if not two. Hopefully the first one is in the grand final - then if the opposition equalize, the second one can come in extra time,” said Massimo Murdocca from Queensland Roar.

“Ideally my New Year resolution would be to learn to fly - but more realistically, I would like to spend more time on my artwork and hopefully develop my own business,” said Adam Griffiths from Newcastle Jets.

Don-t forget the Hyundai A-League action continues in 2009 - and it's only four rounds until final series.
