Australia’s men’s deaf football side were involved in an historic clash with DPR Korea on Saturday, cruising to an impressive victory.
In front of almost 3000 fans at the Sydney Athletics Centre in Homebush, Robert Stanton’s side were too good for the tourists, winning 4-1.
Australia started the match maintaining possession for long periods, while DPR. Korea defended strongly for long periods.
It wasn’t until 10 minutes before the beak that Australia was able to break down the visitor’s defensive structure allowing Stephen David to score.
Two more goals from Zac Lowe before the break ensured the hosts were comfortable at 3-0 at half-time.
DPR Korea started stronger after the break and pulled a goal back in the 50th minute from the penalty spot before the Aussies added a fourth 10 minutes from time.
