Heidelberg United v Weston Bears
Kick-off: 7.30pm AEST
Venue: Olympic Village
Broadcast: 10Play or the Football Australia YouTube Channel
Tickets: Ticketebo
Heidelberg United will hope to advance to the Round of 16 for the sixth time in their history when they take on Northern New South Wales’ Weston Bears on Wednesday evening.
Heidelberg are currently on top of the NPL Victoria ladder and are set to compete in the Docherty Cup Final against South Melbourne in August. They are also in the box seat to be one of the teams to enter the Australian Championship on the back of their league form.
Last season, they defeated A-League Men’s champions Central Coast Mariners 3-1 at this stage of the competition and will be favourites to advance once more at Olympic Village on Wednesday.
The Weston Bears defeated Edgeworth Eagles on penalties to earn the right to compete on the national stage, their second penalty shootout victory of the preliminary stages.
Aaron Niyonkuru scored the important goal in that 1-1 penalty shootout victory and will be one of their main players to watch in the Round of 32.
South Hobart v South Melbourne
Kickoff: 7.30pm AEST
Venue: KGV Stadium
Broadcast: 10Play or the Football Australia YouTube Channel
Tickets: Humanitix
One of Tasmania’s oldest and most successful clubs, South Hobart, will take on one of Victoria’s, South Melbourne, in the Hahn Australia Cup Round of 32 on Wednesday evening.
South Hobart currently sit five points clear at the top of the NPL Tasmania competition and will hope that their good league form can carry them against their more fancied opponents from across the Bass Strait.
They have reached this stage of the competition on three previous occasions – the last coming in 2019 – but have not been able to secure what would be a historic victory.
By contrast, this is South Melbourne’s fifth appearance in this competition. They’ve made the semi-finals twice – once in 2017, and last year in 2024, when they were defeated by a late goal by A-League Men’s side, and eventual winners, Macarthur Bulls.
South Melbourne are set to become one of the foundation members of the Australian Championship and will hope that a deep run in the Hahn Australia Cup can show their credentials on the national stage.
Northern Tigers v Sydney United
Kickoff: 7.30pm AEST
Venue: Leichhardt Oval
Broadcast: 10Play or the Football Australia YouTube Channel
Tickets: Ticketebo
The first intra-state affair of the cup will take place on Wednesday as the Northern Tigers host Sydney United 58.
It is the first appearance for the Northern Tigers in the Australia Cup Round of 32. They are currently top of the Football NSW League One table. The Tigers are a club with a storied history, having helped develop a number of Socceroos and Matildas, and will hope to add to that history this season.
Kai Denton is their player to watch, currently topping the goalscoring charts in League One with 18 goals for the season.
Lachlan Lloyd may just have the magic touch for the Cup, however, scoring a hat-trick that helped them ease past Hills United 4-1 in the final preliminary round before the national stages.
Sydney United did not have it all their way during the preliminary stages, only just squeezing past the third-tier Granville Rage to qualify for the Round of 32 with a 1-0 victory.
However, they can draw on a rich history in the Cup, including reaching the final in 2022, and advancing to the Round of 16 on five further occasions.
Adelaide Croatia Raiders v Cooks Hill United
Kickoff: 7.00pm ACST (local), 7.30pm AEST
Venue: Croatian Sports Centre
Broadcast: 10Play or the Football Australia YouTube Channel
Tickets: Trybooking
Two Round of 32 debutants will face off in a battle to make history in Adelaide on Wednesday evening.
Adelaide Croatia Raiders are currently bottom of the NPL SA table. However, they got the job done in the Cup preliminary stages, defeating FK Beograd to secure their place on the national stage.
In what has been a frustrating campaign, they will hope to give their supporters plenty to cheer about in an incredibly difficult game to call against Northern New South Wales’ Cooks Hill United.
Cooks Hill defeated Broadmeadow Magic, a team who have been almost ever-present at the Hahn Australia Cup, to earn their Round of 32 berth. Xavier Williams scored the winner in their 2-1 victory and will be hoping to have a similar impact in Adelaide.
Much like the Raiders, they are struggling in the Northern NSW Premier League – currently sitting in eighth – but could leave the season with a lifetime of memories in the Hahn Australia Cup.
