Smoking kills more than 15,000 Australians each year and is a leading cause of cancer, heart disease, stroke and emphysema.

Most of us know of the dangers of smoking, but there are still nearly 2.9 million Australians aged over 14 years who smoke every day.

The Australian Government is committed to reducing the smoking rate and helping Australians to improve their health. The new National Tobacco Campaign is the biggest-ever national campaign of its kind and encourages smokers to quit now.

To help promote the quitting message to football fans across the nation, the National Tobacco Campaign is pleased to announce its association with Football Federation Australia.

Quitting successfully may take a number of attempts. Advice is available to help smokers quit. Visit www.australia.gov.au/quitnow or call the Quitline on 13 7848 for more information.

So why not give smoking a ‘red card- this season and kick the habit for good!
