Australia lost 3-1 to powerhouse Japan overnight in their final group match and will now face Thailand in the quarter finals of the AFC Futsal Championships in Uzbekistan.
The Aussies were 2-1 down at half-time before the talented Japan side confirmed the win with a third goal in the second half.

Japan finished top of Group D with a 100% record after Katsutoshi Henmi, Kaoru Morioka and Kazuhiro Nibuya got on the scoresheet against the Futsalroos.
The impressive Gregory Giovenali scored Australia's only goal.
The Aussies' defence was praised by Japan's coach Miguel Rodrigo after the Japanese smashed at least 30 shots on goal.
Futsalroos boss Rob Varela praised his side's performance and insists the team remain confident ahead of their clash with Thailand.
"Happy with our performance against an excellent team, in which we were able to play at a good intensity," Varela said.
"We now go into the quarter final confident we can be competitive if we play at our best."
