Fred Hutchison

Born in 1927, Fred Hutchison was a long-serving and dedicated official with more than 50 years experience in administration and development. Hutchison began his soccer career as a referee in 1952, leading to interstate and international level at the Melbourne 1956 Olympic Games. In the 1970s he became a referee’s inspector and received FIFA and IOC awards in 2001 for services to soccer. In 1975, after 24 years as a member of the Appeals Board, Hutchison was made a Victorian Federation Life Member. He spent five years as chairman of Referees and worked to improve administration. Hutchison also helped create the Victorian Soccer Federation in 1962.
