Do you want to work in the biggest participation sport in Australia? FFA, the governing body of football in Australia that manages all aspects of football including the Qantas Socceroos and Hyundai A-League, is seeking an enthusiastic and driven Assistant Accountant to join its finance department.

As the Assistant Accountant you will be responsible for supporting the finance team and will undertake a diverse array of duties. This is a superb opportunity for a young gun to kick start and develop their career in a busy finance function of an exciting industry sector.

Location: Sydney CBD

THE ROLE:

• Assist with month end journal processing and financial reporting. • Preparation of specific balance sheet reconciliations, including managing the fixed assets register. • Manage staff credit card acquittals, ensuring that they are coded correctly and posted into the General Ledger. • Review the detailed invoice from the travel provider and ensure that the expenses have been incurred and code them to the correct cost centre and period to which they relate. • Assist in the preparation of annual FBT returns. • Assist with year end, the annual audit and grant acquittal information collation. • Assist with payroll journals. • Assist with forecasting, budgeting and cash flow forecasting. • Assist the Financial Controller and other finance staff with various ad-hoc duties.

YOUR BACKGROUND:

• Accounting degree qualified and ideally studying for CA/CPA. • A minimum of a year's experience in a similar Assistant Accounting role where you will have worked on financial accounts. • Strong computer literacy, including advanced Microsoft Excel skills and ideally with Great Plains general ledger knowledge. • Is a self starter that can plan and prioritise work to meet tight deadlines. • Has a great attention to detail. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Enthusiastic with an outgoing personality and real desire to learn and advance your career. • Results driven, works well within a team environment and is able to develop relationships with other departments. • An interest in football and sport in general is desirable.
