Wellington finished 11th in the 2024/25 A-League Men’s regular season, seeing them thrust into a Playoff battle with Brisbane Roar for a place in the Finals Rounds.

Against the Roar, the Phoenix took the lead late in the first half and held on, despite a late red card, to make the Hahn Australia Cup Round of 32.

Last year, Wellington were stunned by NPL Victoria heavyweights South Melbourne in a 1-0 Round of 32 Cupset.

Now, they head west for a distance derby against Perth Glory, determined to avoid another early exit.

Road to the Round of 32:

  • Automatically qualified (A-League Men’s, 1st)

Auckland FC made a lasting impression in their maiden season as a club, winning the A-League Men’s Premiership and securing automatic qualification for the Hahn Australia Cup Round of 32.

This marks Auckland’s first-ever appearance in the competition, and they’ll travel to Queensland to face the Gold Coast Knights in a historic debut.

The Knights reached the Round of 16 in 2024 before falling to A-League Men’s outfit Western United, and will be looking to go at least one step further on home soil and cause a famous Cupset in the process.
