FIFA President to visit Australia

FIFA President Gianni Infantino will visit Australia in early December at the personal invitation of Football Federation Australia Chairman Steven Lowy AM.

Mr Infantino, who was elected to lead football’s world governing body in February this year, will spend a day in Sydney on December 5, in between a visit to the FIFA Under 20 Women’s World Cup Final in Papua New Guinea, and Football Executive Summit meetings in Singapore involving various football associations from around the world, including FFA.

He is expected to meet senior Australian Government representatives as well as participate in a Football Diplomacy Roundtable discussion at the Lowy Institute for International Policy involving a range of people from sport, business, NGOs, media, academia and government.

FFA will also organise a football stakeholder gathering, to allow Mr Infantino to share his vision for the game with the breadth of the Australian football community.

Mr Lowy said the visit would enable Mr Infantino to see at first hand the progress of the game in Australia and be briefed on the FFA’s ambitious plans for future growth.
