Football Federation Australia (FFA) conducted a Medical Workshop on Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) Injury Screening and Prevention last week in Sydney in an effort to limit ACL injuries amongst elite male and female players.
The Workshop included elite National Team medical staff from the Socceroos, Matildas and junior national teams and was convened and chaired by Dr Mark Jones, FFA Head of Medical Services and Socceroos Team Doctor.
The purpose of the Workshop was to finalise a standardised protocol for ACL screening and prevention applicable to FFA’s elite National Teams from senior to junior level, both male and female.
“ACL injuries keep elite players out of the game for an extended period and FFA has been working for some time to come up with appropriate screening and preventative programs to minimise the risk,” Dr Jones said.
“The first step in implementing the program was a workshop with the elite staff to enable FFA to integrate the programs into elite junior programs and National Teams.”
The implementation of the protocol commenced at the recent female NTC’s conducted in Canberra last weekend.
