Football Federation Australia (FFA) has today announced the appointment of Mark Falvo as Head of International Affairs and Government Relations.
Falvo re-joins the FFA Senior Management Team in the newly created role after a highly successful period as Chief Operating Officer of the AFC Asian Cup Australia 2015 Local Organising Committee.
The appointment allows FFA to benefit from Mark’s important relationships with the Federal Government, various State and Territory Governments, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and National Football Federations around Asia.
FFA CEO David Gallop said the creation of the new role gives FFA a new focus on engagement with all tiers of government and Australia’s position in the international affairs of the game.
“After a decade of rebuilding the game, it’s time for FFA to solidify its key relationships within Australia and internationally,” said Gallop.
“Mark has an extensive knowledge of the Australian football landscape and brings a key insight to our place in Asia and within FIFA.
“His role will be to ensure that the voice of football is heard when governments are making decisions and when AFC and FIFA convene.”
Mark Falvo said he was honoured to be able to serve Australian football as a member of the FFA Senior Management Team.
“There is much to do and I look forward to taking up the challenge,” he said. “Domestically, I look forward to working with Member Federations and A-League clubs to pursue the key initiatives identified in Whole of Football Plan, which revolves around facilities,” said Falvo.
“Internationally, I look forward to working co-operatively and proactively with international football stakeholders to develop the game. It’s a wonderful challenge.”
Prior to his role with the 2015 Asian Cup LOC, Mark was FFA Executive Manager with responsibility for implementing a number of important strategic projects, including the National Competitions Review, the development of the Westfield FFA Cup model and the strategic review of the Hyundai A-League which lead to the shifting of the season window in 2011.
