FFA appoint Indigenous Football Coordinator

Football Federation Australia (FFA) recently announced a new position within the Game Development Department with the appointment of Maydina Penrith as FFA’s first National Indigenous Football Coordinator.

Football Federation Australia (FFA) recently announced a new position within the Game Development Department with the appointment of Maydina Penrith as FFA-s first National Indigenous Football Coordinator.

With the key area of responsibility being to develop, lead and coordinate the implementation of the Indigenous Strategy, in addition to building and leveraging partnerships with government, corporate and community partners to identify and source funding and other program opportunities that will contribute to the achievement of the Indigenous Football Development Program outcomes.

These outcomes also include employment opportunities within football for other members of the Indigenous community.

Maydina joins FFA with a wealth of experience within Indigenous affairs, especially within the youth sector, having previously worked in Youth Development roles in regional NSW and has also held seats in various Indigenous youth boards.

“I-m very excited about the role and to be able to give such great opportunities to the young Indigenous people across Australia,” said Maydina at the commencement of her employment with FFA.

“I-m looking forward to introducing the incredible and triumphant stories of Indigenous people involved in football to all communities across Australia.

“I congratulate the FFA in striving to create a real presence in Indigenous communities across Australia, and that they have trusted me to get them there, it-s a real honour.

“My new FFA family are positive, excited and supportive to get out there and make a real difference.”
