Emily Gielnik signs for C.F. Monterrey in Liga MX

CommBank Matildas forward Emily Gielnik has signed for C.F. Monterrey in the Liga MX in Mexico.

Gielnik departs A-League Women club Melbourne Victory, where she scored 20 goals in the last two seasons, including challenging for the golden boot in 2024/25.

She brings 62 national team appearances and 13 international goals to the side who are looking to boost their quality in the final third.

Monterrey are a successful club in Mexico, having won the Apertura phase of the league in 2024/25 and finishing fourth in the Causura phase.

Their competition includes teams such as Tigres UANL who Victory teammate Alex Chidiac played for in 2023.

Thirty-three-year-old Gielnik has previously played overseas in England, Japan, Germany and Sweden for clubs such as Liverpool and Bayern Munich.

Her move to Monterrey comes off the back of a recent recall to the CommBank Matildas squad after battling through injury and setbacks over the last several years.
