In the Dutch Eredivisie, Aussie duo Craig Goodwin and Kenneth Dougall of Sparta Rotterdam endured a tough trip to Heerenveen overnight.
Midfielder Dougall played a full 90 minutes and fellow Australian Craig Goodwin, formerly of Adelaide United, was introduced from the bench with 18 minutes left.
But the pair were unable to prevent a 3-0 defeat.
The loss leaves Sparta 13th in the 18-team league, three points clear of the relegation zone with eight matches remaining.
