Football Federation Australia (FFA) will launch the inaugural Disability Football Month this June with activities across all States and Territories to help promote, inform and develop football across all levels and abilities.

As a national sporting organization FFA values inclusion, fairness, excellence and fun. These values apply across all levels of the game - from junior clubs through to elite levels of the sport.

FFA strongly supports the right of people with disabilities to participate in football as players, coaches, referees or administrators and FFA is committed to developing an environment where accessibility and diversity are valued and nurtured.

FFA and its Member Federations, Associations, Zones and Clubs will ensure that people with disabilities have the opportunity to become involved in, and experience the fun and excitement of the most popular game in the world and help promote positive and informed attitudes towards people with disabilities.

“FFA is delighted to announce, in support with its Member Federations, the month of June will be dedicated to disability football development,” said FFA CEO Ben Buckley.

“FFA hopes that this month long focus will encourage and assist staff and volunteers to develop skills and facilities to meet the needs of people with disabilities while also recognizing the good work that has been done in football to embrace players of every level and ability.

“Football is an inclusive sport and has an incredible ability to bring people together and our aim is that this month can reach out to an even wider group of people to become involved, play and enjoy this wonderful game.”

Members of the community can contact each of FFA-s state bodies to become involved with football in areas including Coach and Referee Education or participation activities.

Throughout Australia, many opportunities exist for people with a disability, from mainstream community or elite level football, to distinct programs or competitions for players, coaches and referees.
